Practice Postnatal Yoga- Because After-Care is Equally Important!

Yoga is an ideal way to help your body and soul heal from the physical as well as the mental stresses of childbirth. Since every woman has different needs while she is pregnant and practices different prenatal yoga exercises based on her own body’s needs, recovery period after childbirth varies from one person to another. Women usually recover at different rates depending on the kind of labor experience, length of pushing, pain and mental trauma, physical condition and type of birth (vaginal or cesarean). If a woman has had a cesarean delivery she needs additional care. However, practicing postnatal yoga can help her in timely recovery from all the mental and physical pains.

Taking care after child birth- Practice postnatal yoga
It is advisable not to perform all but only some exercises such as gentle stretching until 6 to 8 weeks after childbirth.
Poses that can stretch or affect the area of birth should be avoided until incision is healed.
As with all postnatal yoga exercises, if any pose does not feel good, it should immediately be stopped.

After childbirth, the body takes time to heal and regain its natural strength. With proper care and postnatal yoga sessions, you can have a sooner recovery and a healthy life thereafter.
